Biography
Arpad Ambrus was born in Kolozsvár in 1944; He is married with two children. Graduated at the Technical University of Budapest as chemical engineer. He was the technical and scientific manager of the Hungarian Pesticide Analytical Laboratories for 25 years, managed the Food Safety Programme of the Centre for Plant Health and Soil Conservation Service in Hungary. Currently he is the chief scientific advisor and responsible for scientific risk assessment. He is the chair of Codex Committee on Method of Analysis and Sampling He is the lecturer at the University of Debrecen and University of Szeged, and supervises 6 PhD aspirants. During his carrier he worked in various countries as FAO expert, represented Hungary in the CCPR for 14 years and managed the pesticide programme of the FAO/IAEA Training and Reference Centre for Food and Pesticides for 7 years. He was the Honorary Scientist of the Agricultural Academy of Korea for 5 years. Scientific decrees: 1980: Candidate of Science and Doctor Technicus, 2006: habilitated university professor, 2008: Honorary university professor Awards: 2013: Silver Cross of Merit awarded by the President of Hungary 2014. IUPAC International Award for Advances in Harmonized Approaches to Crop Protection Chemistry Membership: FAO/WHO Joint Meeting on Pesticide Residues since 1973 Sub-committee on Food Safety of Hungarian Academy of Science 2008- IUPAC fellow: 2005- EFSA Food Consumption Expert Group since 2012 Editorial Board of the Journal of Environmental Science and Health.
